About this blog

I design stuff, make videos, and write stories. Also, I am a person of faith, but I’m still trying to figure things out just like everyone else.

I’ve spent too much of my life having inconsequential interactions with other people, and I want to change that, both in a personal and in a business context. That’s part of the reason for this blog.  As you may have already discovered, writing about a topic can give you a better perspective on it.  So, I’m writing this blog not as an expert who already knows everything about his subject but as someone who wants to better understand it as he writes. Here’s hoping that we can become more authentic and less corporate in the process.

To be clear, I am not an anti-business kind of guy.  Quite the opposite.  In discussions with friends, I’m usually the guy who celebrates the ways that businesses have made our lives better.  Actually, I believe that businesses in general are better than governments at distributing resources, creating jobs, and improving society’s standards of living. With that said, I’m writing about being less corporate in regards to the associations that people have when they bemoan an aesthetic, policy, or interaction that is unnecessarily clunky or lifeless.

I don’t have an exact definition of being less corporate; The idea is to discover new perspectives as I write, but this post on Organized Loveless should give you a better sense of where I’m coming from.

Also, I’m a long-form kind of guy; I’d rather write a few thoughtful posts than lots of quick commentary, even though short and quick updates index better.  But then, I’m writing because some things matter to me, and it takes me longer to write about that stuff.

While I enjoy writing this blog, sometimes my other projects take quite a while to complete, and they will take priority.  Still, I’ll try to write as often as I can.

If you like what you read, you can check out some of my work at www.nsavides.com.  I do video, graphics, writing, and photography, and I’d like to help you share your story with the world. So if you’re interested, let’s talk.
